english channels on saorview box and compatible tv

    hi, plz mods move if in wrong place,

    i tuned in a saorview box today at my mothers house ( in the kitchen)when i finishd the scan i had the 8 irish tv channels and all the itv and bbc c5 and the +'s of some of them, then i went to the living room and re scanned the saorviw built in tv and got the same, is this normal or just a stroke of luck,
    when i got back to my own home i recannd the tv and only got the 8 tv chnls plus radio ones,
    we are both in co wexford if this makes any difference

    Chances are your mother has an aerial pointing at Wales since the analogue days. Saorview boxes/TVs can display FreeView channels but may not be fully compatible. It is less likely to tune in the FreeView HD channels as they use DVB-T2. If you had the UK analogue channels before now you stand a very good chance of getting FreeView as well.
    It should be noted that the unusual weather of recent days meant that the UK channels were stronger than usual.
