You'll need to set this in your facebook account. I think it's in Account Settings - Notifications. You can turn them off there.

yeah thats a real pain, I turned everything off in FB and still got some.

Workaround, you could make a FB folder in your gmail and filter them all to that, but don't forget to tick 'skip inbox' and let them pile up there and delete whenever you want.

    Filtering is great.

Facebook desperately need people to login every day so that they can quote user traffic statistics to impress their advertisers and Wall St. In the run up to the IPO they started dreaming up more and more silly excuses to send me e-mails encouraging me (an occasional FB user) to login.

They eventually reached the bottom of the barrel and sent me an e-mail claiming that someone was trying to hack into my account, thereby hoping that I would login to change my password and thus be clocked up as an 'active' user.

Soon after the IPO they extended the (already frivolous) number of 'events' that would trigger an e-mail notification to me about my friends' activities. A few weeks ago my brother-in-law checked into a hotel in Belfast and I got an e-mail. A friend added a new friend and I got an e-mail. Someone tagged someone in a photo and I got an e-mail.

So I logged in to FB and quickly set about changing my privacy settings to stop this torrent of total BS, that is what you will have to do. It's a game of cat and mouse at this stage with FB, every time they dream up new reasons to annoy you, you will have to go into your setting and change the default of what will be a setting you have never seen before.

All I can say is, I can see why the share price has tanked. It looks to me like FB has peaked and the only way they can go now is downhill, I can see why advertisers like GM have pulled all of their FB spend.
