My car was broken into, scumbags caught on CCTV.

Before anyone asks. Yes, I've seen the footage.

Guards have been notified with all details.

As their target is cars and this is a motoring forum, I though I'd let other's know.

Mine was parked in Johnstown shopping centre carpark (Navan).

Apoligies if I've broken forum rules.

Did you have anything visible inside the car? They'll smash windows to take anything that looks valuable if it can be seen, then you've the scum who smash if you've nothing visible just to check. Can't win and can't shoot them

Apoligies for any confusion. If you look at my original post, a moderator snipped the details of the car used to commit the offence, from the post and then locked the thread.

The reason I started this thread was to reply to the Mod. although I did PM him / her also, and to confirm that the Guards were informed and are dealing with it also.

I don't see any harm in alerting people to be on the lookout for the these scumbags, and if that means posting the details of their car on public media well so be it.

If anyone want's the details PM me and I'll send them on.

It could be your car next.

I'm not really looking for comment etc. just to make people aware.

    With very good reason.
You stated: "The following car was used today to carry out theft(s) from other cars in the Navan area." and then posted the reg of the car. You did not provide any proof nor did you suggest that you had reported it to the Gardai; all you did was make a potentially libellous statement with absolutely no proof whatsoever.

You started a new thread, not a conversation with a mod.
However, at least this thread isn't pointing the finger at someone without a shred of proof.

I do see the harm. We do have something called libel, due process and innocent until proven guilty. You have provided no evidence to substantiate your claim, all you have is a reg number. Would you walk up to them in a busy shopping centre and shout out so everyone can hear that they are thieving bastards? From my perspective, you could be out to hurt the fella that your missus was riding with last weekend, I don't know, I don't care (unless you have pics of that!).
Furthermore, libel laws do apply to the internet, including "public media". There is not this dumbass notion of free speech that you seem to think you have a right to.

Mod Note: any libellous accusations made by this poster have nothing to do with boards.ie. If I find out that you have libelled someone again, I'll site ban you with no hesitation.

Well make sure that the gardai have all evidence. If you do eventually decide to go public, make damn sure that you have this evidence.
