What are ESPN going to do now, apparently the UFC want to move away from ESPN too.

Interesting article in the Guardian HERE
Ultimately the price will be paid by other, second- and third-tier sports, where Sky, in particular, will be keen to manage down the costs for the likes of cricket or rugby.

If that was the case, then if ESPN had any sense they would try and hoover up all these sports. They could possibly get quite a bit of high class sport for a comparative bargain price. I know it was ITVs undoing (because they said they would pay silly silly money), but if they got Championship and below football for a sensible price that would also be a draw for some people.

Maybe ESPN will allow more time for Bundesliga now.

It seems from reading the article that Sky will offset the cost by cutting back on other sports,I personally wouldn't mind a cut in cricket coverage.

No word on the awarding of the overseas packages,I wonder how Setanta will fare?

Sky & BT will have to cut some sort of deal for those who can't/don't get BT.

BT currently have roughly 700k subscribers to it's tv service, that's a small audience to justify the amount of money they forked out for EPL rights.

    From the Guardian article:
BT – the latest challenger to Sky after Setanta and ESPN – is expected to launch a new sports channel, available on a variety of platforms.
Seems like we might get a BT sports channel on Sky (probably at a price)

Looks like ESPN have rights to the Premier League for 1 more season, was having a read through a different forum & a poster contacted ESPN to ask them about it.

This particular deal is for the season after next to 2016 - The current deal remains unchanged.
