My son has a VW Golf that has an alarm/central locking system fitted (not factory fitted as far as I know), but the key fob is in poor condition (all those years stuffed in someones pockets I suppose) and I was just wondering if anyone knows anywhere that sells replacement fobs (or cases) so that I can transfer the internal circuitry to a new case...?

Also, does anyone know where it might be possible to get an additional fob for this system in case anything happens the other one...?

    Thanks.

For info, the key fob looks like this....

thats not factory fitted anyway. is there any brand name on the fob or maybe inside it? could be hard to get one if you dont know the brand.

Check Ebay, open it up and check for brand, maybe theres a sticker on the car window or on the alarm box in the engine bay. I've got empty casings for Cobra alarms before, about £5 on Ebay.

That's a Laser Line by the looks of it.

It could me a Meta System one too, I had the same one on a Fiat before, had a circular sticker with orange background on the windows, can't remember which it was. Kinda leaning towards Laserline.

Thanks guys, there's a blue sticker on the window saying RM Security and a phone number (012985031) but when I Googled them they appear to be (or have been) a distributor rather than an installer, they don't seem to have a website and the number doesn't appear to work.

The car also has a little three pin socket half way up the window pillar with an LED which I assume is a socket for an over ride key (which I don't have). I can't see any name on it and I have no idea where the main unit itself is fitted, it also operates the electric windows.

I'm a bit worried now in case something happens the fob and the car becomes immobilised, I don't know anything about car alarms so I'm reluctant to fiddle with it, ideally I'd like to be able to bring it to an alrm specialist who could identify what system it is and supply me with another fob and the override key.

    Any suggestions....?

    Thanks.
