I have a 60cm Sky dish, is it possible to hook up a 2nd 80cm dish and Satelite reciever to the same TV? Do you know of any installers that would install this for me as im not that technically equipped myself?

What viewing card(s) will I need to get in order to get the most football available?

    Thanks for your advice :)

I am not sure on viewing cards. Does the commentary need to be in English? What languages can you speak? What leagues are you most interested in?

It would help if you could explain what type of box is currently connected to the existing TV. Is it a Sky box with a subscription to Sky or something else? If something else can you write the exact model number?

Along with viewing cards you need to consider if you want the box to have the ability to record?

Regarding dishes if you are very close to the Sea then an alumium or fibreglass dish is recommended. It is possible to combine Sky and another foreign on the one dish. Is your existing 60cm dish all rustly and in need of replacing?

Will it need to go on the front of the house or somewhere 2 dishes would look bad (such as chimney) ?

Generally we normally recommend an installer registered with an official body as there is plenty of chancers out there. Here is a list of the bodies:

It is best to ask the installer if he has installed lots of foreign satellite systems as some installers rarely have done this. Ask them what a DiSEqC switch is and if they can't answer you then pick someone else!

    you need :
    • A second dish, preferably 80cm size
    • The second dish set up to receive Astra1 and Hotbird satellites
    • A bracket to hold the little things that receive the satellite signals (called LNBs)
    • A little switch box to connect the two new sats and the existing Astra2 service all together (thats called a DISECQ)
    • Somebody to install it for you (I used satellite.ie and they were very good IMO)
    • some satellite cable (called CT100, the usual cable TV stuff doesn't work)
    • A new satellite receiver box that can handle the switching between more than one sat. Most can. But your Sky box cannot.
    • A viewing card or alternative solution for the football you want (thats' a days work to answer that question)

The above sounds complex, but in reality its simple. Somebody will install the lot. you just need to familiarise and learn about possibilities after that.
