    Hope someone can help. I've a laptop I use with a projector (extended desktop and not clone screen) all of a sudden vlc player plays and shows on both screens (projector and laptop) and I can't just have it showing on 1 screen like I used to do (projector). I usually display a movie on projector while working on laptop, but now I can't. I've reset settings (preferences and cache) on vlc but still no joy.

    Assuming you've got the latest 2.0.1 version and are using Windows, try going to
    Tools --> Preferences --> Video

    Under the "DirectX" panel, there's a drop down list for "Display Device".

    Try changing it from "Default" to a specific screen, eg. \\.\DISPLAY 1
