3 internet modem on MBA

So I bought a MBA and have only the 3 internet modem for internet until after summer, but I can't get the modem to work on the mac.
When I try to install it, I'm told that an internal error occurred.
I confess I'm not advanced with computers - bit of a novice - but do you guys think I should contact 3 to get something sorted? The MBA is pretty useless without any internet. :(
I hope I have posted in the right forum. Any help would be really gratefully appreciated. D

Which modem do you have? I got one of the 3 modems ages ago and as far as I remember, the software on it was incompatible with OS X 10.7 Lion so I had to download a newer version of the "Mobile Partner" software and input the settings myself to get it to work. See this thread for example:

I have the Huawei E168 by the way so depending on what you got, you may need different drivers.

If things are like they were when I got it awhile back, Mac support from 3 is pretty much non-existent, but you should be able to sort it out yourself.

Thanks very much for your kind reply J-blk.
TBH I'm a novice on the mac and so couldn't attempt to do any of that sort of thing without more "dummy friendly" instructions!
But good to hear that something can be done, at the very least! Can I convince 3 to do it for me do you think?
As you asked, the device I have is Huawei E122 HSPA USB stick.
    Thanks again, D

Hi DMCSCH10 - it's not that difficult once you have the right drivers (I'm still assuming you're on Lion, right?) and I can walk you through it once you have the right files downloaded.

In any case, you could try 3 first (I'd argue that if they advertise the modem/package as Mac compatible then they should help you but if not, they could tell you you're on your own) and if they won't help just let me know and I'll try to give you as detailed instructions as possible to do it yourself. I'm fairly confident the E122 should work in pretty much the same way my E168 does.

Thanks so much for that J-blk! I rang 3 yesterday & they gave me configurations & it seems to work now (not great mind you, but that's these modems for you). You're a star for offering help though, thanks a lot!
