    ~Hi,

I was wondering whether anyone has done the cycle to Galway for charity? I'd love tto do it, but I read that you have to train in Maynooth for it? Are there people who trained elsewhere for it? I live no where near Maynooth, so would be quite impossible to train there..

I think it's an annual event.

I've done it the last 3 years, and fully plan on doing it several more times! There are regular training spins run from Maynooth each weekend in the run up to it (starting in January, or informally a bit earlier), and while a lot of people find it helpful to train with the main group in Maynooth, only a couple of the training cycled in Maynooth are mandatory (do one of 4 particular ones in each of February and March). The main reason for this is so that the marshals and safety crew can be sure that everyone going has experience of cycling distance, and in a group, as it is a large gang on the road - over 200 this year in a single bunch.
