    Hi All-

Does anyone take this bus during the commute hours and can you tell me if there are seats in the morning when it reaches Blackrock? Is is a fairly reliable route?

    Thank you!

    7b does not serve Blackrock!

It uses the Stillorgan Road QBC the whole way

Well it does not serve Blackrock village. It serves part of Blackrock, namely the Monkstown link Road, crosses Newtownpark Avenue at the Playright and then crosses the top of Carysfort Avenue before continuing along Stillorgan Park.

When I first started using it you could not get a seat by the time it reached Churchview Road most days, back in 03. By 07 you could get a seat at any point on the journey. Generally depended on how many school kids were going to the Irish School by UCD from Ballybrack and Shankill. No idea what it's like these days.

Any moves to change this route number, since it really has nothing to do with the route 7 (note the OP's confusion over thinking that the route served Blackrock)? It's really the old route 46 re-routed via Monkstown Ring Road instead of running via Johnstown Avenue in Cabinteely.

(Since DB is into creating extra-long cross-city routes, perhaps some trips on route 4 could be extended to Corbawn Lane, thus eliminating the 7B?)

I use them quite frequently, the early ones tend not to fill anymore in its duration. The latter tend to fill if they hit a gap on the N11.

But, the 7B route does not have a stop outside the playwright. You probably thinking of the 46E from Blackrock Station to Mountjoy Square.

Part of the 7B routing from Stradbrook Road to Stillorgan using the map link below is as follows.

    http://www.dublinbus.ie/en/Examples/Google-Map/?routeNumber=7B&direction=OI&towards=Shankill&from=Mountjoy+Sq.

Rowanbyrn, Benamore Road (Newpark Comprehensive School), Fleurville Road (near Texaco Garage), Carysfort Avenue (St Augustine's School), Stillorgan Park & Stillorgan N11.
