Smart ass mod

Placed a simple enough question in the broadband section and got a smart arsed answer from a mod. While I'd usually ignore this kind of ****e, I think its fairly crummy that a mod would act in such a way. Its a very bad representation for boards.ie and can honestly say that in years of using this site I have never cam across anything like it before.
While his post was no way abusive it was unnecessary and probably would act as a deterrent to any one actually replying to my post.
I had searched the web for hours looking for an answer and believed that posting on boards might give me the information I had trouble finding, instead all I get is a smart answer by a mod who could easily have ignored the post.

Here's the thread. I'm sure it looks like I'm over reacting but a mod should really know better and if they don't they shouldn't be modding in the first place.

I gave you an accurate answer to your question. That you can't understand simple answers is not my problem.

I would also ask that this be closed as it is not a moderation issue. I answered a question as a user, not as a mod. Moderation didn't come into it. This is a case of a poster not liking the answer they've received by another poster, which is not a Helpdesk issue.

Looking back, I was over reacting. Not because I couldn't understand a simple answer, but your arrogant condescending tone just rubbed me up the wrong way. Also receiving an infraction from you for being uncivil while also being insulted by you in the thread shows what kind of a person you are. There were better ways of answering my question that some one with actual people skills would achieved, but I'm sure me pointing that out won't change anything. I have generally tried to be helpful to posters on various sub forums over the years regardless of how stupid I found their questions, that is the way I try and conduct myself and is also why I was a little bit shocked by your response.

Distinguishing between posts as a regular user and posts as a mod/cmod/admin can at time be challenging. That is why the practice of posting in bold has become increasing common in some forums, to clearly indicate a post made in a moderator capacity versus a post made by a moderator in his or her capacity as a regular user.

In this instance, I do believe that jor el was acting in a capacity as a regular user. As such, this matter is not a Moderator issue, it is essentially two users interacting on a thread.

As to the comment itself, I have to be honest, I do think it was rather blunt and unhelpful. However, I do not frequent that forum, so I am not familiar with the generally accepted tone of discourse on the forum.

In relation to the infraction, if you wish to dispute that, then it is handled in the DRP forum. You can find a link to it at the top of this forum.

Cheers for the reply.Don't want to pursue the matter any further as I won't be going back to that part of boards again and really I believe I should have known better any way than to respond in the way I did. Storm in a tea cup I suppose. Was just a bit annoyed by the reply as most of the usual forums I frequently use are generally filled with helpful fellow boardsies. That isn't to say that Jo rel probably wasn't trying to be helpful in his own way, but mearly that it wasn't the kind of response I am accustomed to( not to say that I feel that I'm an overly entitled a hole either).
Once again thanks for taking the time to interact.

    No problem.

I have also reversed the infraction.
