    Hi folks,

Looking for any reccomendations you may have of where to go for a 2 week break in Sept/Oct this year?
I'm not looking for your conventional places-Europe or US. Am trying to go to Sri Lanka but the prices are just to high due to the damn cricket world cup being held there.

Any tips on where to go where the weather would be decent at that time.
    Thanks

    Hey!!
2 years ago I spent 2 weeks in the Far East. Flew to Hong Kong, stayed there for 5 nights, then on to Kuala Lumpur for 3 nights and then Singapore for 4 nights and then back home to Ireland. 3 amazing cities with lots to see and do in each of them. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

What about Russia? I think most of the country gets pretty good whether then. 2 weeks would be enough to see Moscow and St.Petersburg, along with some of the smaller cities on the Trans-Siberian line.

Or somewhere like Jordan? It's pretty cheap and Sept is a good time to go (I went last year). 2 weeks may be slightly too long so you could combine it with short trips to Israel or Egypt (keep an eye on the situation in Egypt though).

You'd be surprised how cheap return flights can be to both Moscow and Amman.

I spent ten days in Russia in Sept a few years ago and stayed in Moscow and got a return train to St. Petersburg. Weather was sunny and about 16oC every day. Flights were very cheap - think we flew through Budapest but can't remember airline.

It can be quite expensive out there though and organising visa and accomodation is a bit of a headache but definitely one to consider.

Maybe if you let people know what type of things you like doing it might help with suggestions - cities, wildlife, nightlife, beach holiday, history.

Thanks for the replies. I've always wanted to go to Jordan and was actually planning on travelling there this year, but at the moment the whole area (Syria/Egypt) is a bit unstable so better off not to risk it.

Decided to Bali, indonesia for 2 weeks in October. Booked at the weekend, Anybody got any experience there?!

    Thanks again

Bali is a great choice, my Dad went there a few years ago and loved it.

Don't be afraid to travel to Jordan in the future, it's one of the most stable middle eastern countries there is and they're really suffering with people being put off going there because it's under Syria. I was there a year ago and they were already feeling the backlash.

Travelling with my boyfriend, we decided to book with Travelmood purely because the flights over were working out at €1200 each before accom, so the package is for an 8 day stay in Sanur and 4 nights in Ubud for €1300. Seems like a lot i know, we normally do/book every thing ourselve but flight prices for long haul are absolutely ridiculous lately.

You will love Bali. Be warned Sanur is nicknamed "snore" by the way! It's very quiet. Head to Kuta for a night out, it's crazy. And of the 8 days at sanur it would be worth your while to hit up one of the Gili's for a few nights even though your accom is already paid for at Sanur it would only cost ye an extra 20 each on accom.

Hi, been to Bali 5times, love the place, think you paid through the nose for the flights!! We always fly with klm from cork/Amsterdam/Bali paid between €800 to €895 all depends when you book.
Always book the hotels when over there as there is over a bundance of hotels and walk in's sometimes get great discounts!!
Sanur is snores ville fine for families and older people, kuta ok for a night out but legian/seminyak way better.
Eat in the local restaurants for two of us we'd spend €20/€25 a night for a main and beers and more beers;), you can spend a lot of money on restaurants if you want .... Up to you!!
Bali is full of ozzies it's like the Irish in Spain!!
Ubud is beautiful but two days I think is enough!!
I'd look into the gilli islands for two nights if you could three lovely islands and great night life on gili T.
Make sure you have 50dollars for the visas on entry
Be very careful changing money on the street the money changers are known for doing you out of money you think they can't but I've had it done to me on the first trip, you live and learn.
Only use bluebird taxis the rest are rigged. Let me know if you need any more info and happy travels.

Thanks for the info Tipp, normally we would book everything ourselves - not really the package holiday types but flight prices were just way out of our budget this year, cheapest we found were around 900e each so decided to just book through the agency (my sister also works there so got a bit of a discount :D)

Looking for a real chill out holiday with trips/stuff to do every second day or so, so happy enough with Sanur and sure if its way to quiet we can head somewhere else for the night.

Have been looking and the gill islands, look amazing. Would you reccecommend a day trip to lombok??

Hi again, don't get me wrong Sanur is lovely real village feel some lovely restaurants and bars, you can get all your toiletries over there and cheap, you have a hardy's supermarket in Sanur but for a better bigger shop head for Carrefour on sunset road!
I wouldn't bother with Lombok plenty of day trips in Bali to keep ya interested.
Have a look at Bali tripadvisor, Sanur tripadvisor, Ubud tripadvisor etc this will give you plenty of help with your trip.
Oh and remember you have to bargin bargin bargin in the markets, but remember its all a bit of fun and you could be fighting over €1 but your expected to do so by the stall holder.
Have a day t the waterpark(waterbom)in kuta it's a great day out go early to avoid the crowds and look for the discounts outside.
Hope this helps and I'd love to be going back happy travels.

Hey, sorry to hijack the thread - we're going over that direction for our honeymoon in sept. I'm organising it but am having problems getting to Lombok from Bali. I'd rather not get the boat (time, seasick, don't like the water), and have been trying to book flights with lion air. It won't accept our credit cards! (No reason for this - plenty of money on them, normal mastercard/visa). Tipp - would you be able to recommend a way of getting over there? I'm thinking we'll stay in the qunci villa's once there - any experience of it?

We're staying in Lombok for 6 nights and then coming back to Bali. Have yet to book a hotel so am looking for suggestions for that too! All I know is that we're not staying in Kuta...

    All help/tips greatly appreciated!
