Solar/Lunar tables is one of these ideas that the sun and moon cycles affects the movement of game during the peak and wane of the lunar cycle IE when the moon is directly underneath or directly overhead, it makes animals feed or move more.It also applies to a 24 hour period on moon rise and set.

Has anyone here tried this or found any sort of correlation between the moon and sucess or not in hunting??
My grandfather was a firm beliver in it that around new moon or full moon it was best for boar and deer to move and become more active.
Next Tuseday the 19th is a new moon so it should be very good towards 18:44 to 19:44 in the evening or between 12:30 and 14:40 in the day
Just wondering would anyone like to experiment and see if there is any good shooting in the time frame??

    This is just my experience:
Deer are harder to spot (less on the move) during the three days around the full moon and are more on the move and easier to spot around the new moon.
In September, Sunday the 30th is the full moon and my hunting buddies will swear that is when the Rut starts and it will be mostly over by October the 29th when the next full moon is.
Often the full moon does not fall near the end of September, so the Rut starts a little early. These are often the years you hear people say "Not much of a rut this year!"
Probably as they are expecting it to always be in October. If it starts very early in September, due to the amount of day-light the deer have, they tend to be in more secluded places and less out in the open.
Again, this is not based on any study or fact, just experience of my own and others who's opinion I value.
Before I plan a day out in the hills, I always check the phase of the moon. I have a lunar calendar. I’ve stopped expecting to see a lot around the full moon, but still cannot resist!
