Hey, I know I am having questions everyday, but whatever I don't know anyone who can explain this to me in English and I know there is lots of people who know all rules perfectly here.
So today I was on such road as in picture, and I was behind the guy in Green car, it was a traffic and everyone were standing still, out of sudden the guy in front of me drove out onto striped lane, drove over it all across and turned, even though there was grey area for turns. Blue cars are oncoming traffic.
I saw that and went into deep thoughts thinking if that's okay to do, then remembered my instructor said it's not allowed to cross striped area in any case. So I drove forward with traffic flow ,stood in grey area, indicated turning right, waited for oncoming traffic to clear and turned. So what he did was completely not allowed? it seemed kind of weird, literally just rolling all across it and across oncoming lane into turn or is that okay to do? It wasn't even taxi guy.

There is no picture in your post OP. Did you mean to attach one?

Don't feel that you have to justify yourself for asking questions. If people don't ask questions, they don't learn ! :)

Yes, what he did was wrong. Your instructor was correct. That driver should not have crossed over or driven on the stripped lane. He should have waited to enter the right turning lane at the appropriate point (the beginning of the gray area) and then waited until he had clearance to make his turn from that lane in the gray area.

Unfortunately, far, far too many bad/dangerous/impatient drivers believe in taking short cuts to get them where they want to go. If that means driving over stripped lane, they will. Drive often enough, and you'll see it happen over and over and over. It does not mean that it is ok for other drivers to do it too.

Yeah no that's not allowed unless there's a blockage in front of you, not including traffic. Doesn't stop people though. Pretty annoying when the main road is clear but there's a backlog waiting to turn right and you're doing the right thing by not moving into the box and blocking traffic behind you, but it's still what you're meant to do.

Note: Although it was probably not the case in the diagram shown, it is acceptable it cross a painted island surrounded by a broken white line.

You could get done for obstruction if you don't enter the stripping in that case. Driving is also about being considerate to other road users and if they didn't want vehicles to drive over the area they'd have put down kerbs.

Drove today for 8 hours, 1 hour break between 4 hours, had many cases but dealt with them well and had no problems, crap didn't know my car has alarm ,the awkward moment when it goes off :D

You should not drive into those areas with diagonal stripes
painted accross them as someone said earlier ( unless it's a broken white line painted around them ) but it's also a fact of life that in a lot of places the lenght of the lane reserved for turning right is way too short. When doing your driving test, don't enter the stripey area, in real life use your own sound judgement. What you should never do though is turn right directly from the stripey area as you will be without fail driving against the flow of traffic for a short distance/performing an illegal overtake.

Haven't read the other replies (on my phone and it takes too long to load) but I was watching Traffic Blues there a while go when a man drove into those striped lines and subsequently crashed and was done fr dangerous driving.

Crashing is dangerous. So if you have a crash when doing something wrong you will often get done for dangerous driving.

    Something like this:

    or this:

Absolutely positively don't - there will be the occasional traffic island, they are often full of loose grit and gravel (you can lose braking / steering and send the gravel flying to hit someone else) and traffic is likely going too fast.

In a small number of urban locations, it isn't as severe a problem, especially if there is a solid median. However, make sure that you can safely pass the vehicles in front of you and that you won't come close to encroaching on the centre line (never mind entering the opposing lane) AND that vehicles behind you (which may be wider than you) can safely pass you on the left without the risk of hitting you and shunting you into opposing traffic.

In this view: http://maps.google.ie/maps?q=Wilton&hl=en&ll=51.881167,-8.506497&spn=0.003358,0.009645&sll=52.798549,-7.50772&sspn=0.003315,0.009645&oq=wilton&t=k&hnear=Wilton&z=17&layer=c&cbll=51.881284,-8.506564&panoid=cpfgdOSsAGJt-RF41kMZTQ&cbp=12,170.62,,3,1.58 the risk would be that a bus or truck could clip the rear left corner of the last car, driving it into the barrier or if there was no barrier, into opposing traffic.

Is that sarcasm or did I mis-understood it? :D
I just always see the taxi drivers being kind of... odd and racing along and around everywhere.

The real issue is you would be crossing a solid white line - not permitted unless you are passing very slow or parked vehicles. If the outline of the hatched are was a broken line (common in UK) it would be permitted.

I was in this situation a few days ago. Except, it was a T-Junction with traffic lights. At the junction I had the option of going left or right.

But it got a bit confusing, because I was approaching this junction to turn right, but that right little lane was packed full of cars and there was no space for anymore without entering the hatch markings. On top of all this, I had to stop way back cause of a yellow box-junction (a junction before the T-junction).

It was an awkward situation but I knew for a fact that stopping in the box, and going into the hatch markings was a no-go. However, at the traffic lights, the filter light allowing traffic to turn left had come on and everyone in front of me, in the left lane, had driven on. So I drove passed the yellow-box junction, but the right lane traffic was still there, and the only way I could stop behind them was to break the law and enter the hatch markings. Keep in mind that I was stuck in the left lane and blocking traffic behind me from turning left. I stood my ground however, despite people beeping behind me with their "get the **** out of my way" attitude. I just passed my test before this and these situations are horrible - makes ya feel so nervous :S I felt like a nusance just blocking the road, but I believe I did the right thing.

Would it have been a very wrong thing to do, to enter in behind them to allow traffic to pass?
