Strange connection issue (UPC EPC2425)

I didn't post this in the EPC2425 thread because this is a really unique problem and it may not be a router issue.

I have the 25mb package with UPC and the speed is fine no problem there. There are 2 Windows 7 laptops and a Macbook Pro connected wirelessly to the router and a wired Windows 7 PC. When the wireless devices are connected there are no problems whatsoever; connection and speed remains constant. As soon as the wired machine comes online, the connection drops every 20-30 mins for about a minute then comes back. This happens until the wired connection is turned off. Ran ping -t commands and the whole connection drops.

We have tried setting manual IP's and turning off the IP leasing as well as checking cabling etc. Rang UPC and they even replaced the router for us but the problem remains.

Does anyone know what the problem might be or even have some suggestions about what to look for. We're all fairly technically savvy here (Computer Scientist and Yahoo Server administrator) so don't be afraid to get technical!

    Disable network card.
Add another network card to rule it out or a wireless card / dongle.

We tried using a different network card that was taken from an old decommissioned machine but it made little/no difference. The Win 7 PC is very high spec but it surely wouldn't matter if the network card was old or from a low spec machine?

Can the windows 7 machine be trying to set itself up as a domain controller or something (sorry it's a bit vague, just something I came across before.)

Will check that out Mark. Doubtful but willing to try anything at this stage. We're pretty sure that it's the Windows 7 PC but also could be the way that the router is dealing with the wired connection. Very hard to pinpoint the source of the problem even

Can you swap the router with a friend and test it to rule the router out?
