HTC Wildfire S Problem

    Hey Guys,

Hope this is the right section, if not could a mod move it?

I'm having a bit of a problem with my Wildfire S - its about 11 months old, and keeps going doing its own thing as if it has a mind of its own. I could be sending a text message, and it'd stop responding, or go into search pressing other keys and the likes.

Its getting very annoying, I'm not sure if its a firmware issue or a Hardware issue.

I was thinking of Rooting it, but if I do I void the warranty - which I could need to get it fixed!

I've updated the firmware, but its still happening.

    Android Version: 2.3.5
    HTC Sense Version: 2.1
    Software Number 2.13.401.13
    Kernal Version .6.35.10-ga66971c

Worth checking(searching) there to see if anyone else has had similar issues/symptoms.

Have the same issue myself. A friend in college had the same phone with the same problem and my missus also had the same problem - her solution: lobbing it off the ground and breaking the screen in temper :p

I've tried a few things and have read that rooting doesnt fix the issue. I was told that it was a software issue but i doubt its the case. Thinking of trading in for the One V myself.

Wildfire S is currently worth about €60 on envirofone.

As far as I know a custom ROM would not solve the issue of the random screen presses, etc. I've read on other forums of people installing custom ROM and the problem still persists.

Worth a shot anyway I guess

If now it'd only install :(

Trying to root the phone all day, but since its at 2.26.401.3 it do it for some reason I don't think, despite following various tutorials :(

May i ask how you got this? I've been trying various methods for a few weeks with no joy. I cant seem to get the Bootloader Unlocked, as the phone wont update from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5...

I had updated mine to 2.3.5 last night using the in-phone update thingie!

Just so you know too, if you update to 2.3.5 it relocks your bootloader - but you don't need to use any RUU as provided in the tutorial in XDA & AF if you are at 2.26.401.3

Ignore the first part of the second bit, just realised its already locked :P

When I check for updates on the phone it says it's updated wit the latest version and it's only on 2.3.3

Eh I've been tryin to install custom ROM but can't because the phone won't let me update to custom software so can't unlock the boot loader. That's my point.

You're checking for updates, on official FW, where 2.3.3 is the latest.

The reason he's on 2.3.5 is that he's on Cyanogen Mod already, thus his updates are fed from CM, which is still releasing.

You dont update to a custom, you flash it. If you follow the guides on XDA to the letter you'll get it installed.

I know all that, and I've read step by step guides on how to root to phone to flash a custom ROM onto it. That's why I asked him how he rooted the phone because I'm having no luck.

    Seems a zerg rush works.

    Try using SuperOneClick.

I was already on 2.3.5 before I flashed the ROM.
