A fundraising cycle will take place on Sunday the 22nd of July in Portlaoise in aid of popular Portlaoise man Mick Rigney who suffered a serious and debilitating stroke in November last. The cycle will have a choice of 100km and 60 km routes starting and finishing in Portlaoise Rugby Club (Togher). Registration on the morning from 9 30am. Cycle starting 10am. Entry fee 25euro. Food and water stops will be provided on both routes.
The 100km route will go from Portlaoise Rugby Club-Abbeyleix-Durrow-Ballyraggett-Castlecomer-Killeshin-Carlow-Stradbally and back to the Rugby Club.
Details of the 60km route and links to both routes to follow.

Looking forward to this, should be a good spin. What kind of numbers are you expecting?

Organisers are expecting 3 to 4 hundred between both spins I believe. Weather looks promising to.

A well organised cycle to-day, great to see that it was well supported, loads of food and the marshalling was excellent, nice curry at the finish. Fierce headwind on the way back, my average speed dropped from 28.3 Kph to 27.1 Kph for the last 10 kilometres. My stats: distance 108 kms, rolling time 3 hours59 minutes, average speed 27.1 kph. A big well done to the organisers.
