Possibly a harsh ride for Irish roads, RT-57 might be a better all rounder.

Right as always Lumen .... but I just love the look of the N2!

Don't know if you are interested in weight, but N2A is relatively heavy.

    Frame (Large) - 1224g
    Fork (Uncut) - 407g
    Seatpost - 196g
    Headset - 134g
    Total = 1961g

If you're gonna buy a carbon frame then check out the terms and conditions to avoid this sort of thing.

A place in Wexford had some 2010 Ridely Orion frames discounted to €500, I think .... The website is off the air at present, so maybe they are no longer there .......? But given that they overstocked, I guess there is a bargain to be had if they are......

    worth a call, perhaps

The site is still giving me an 'unspecified error'. It was definitely the Orion that they had....

You might have better luck narrowing the field if you thought about what kind of road bike you want and what you intend to do with it. Do you have geometry/fit preferences? Do you value stiffness or ride quality, or (god help us) low weight? Are you a brand snob or a bargain bin rummager? How flexible is the budget? etc. etc.

Or if you have a CI licence http://www.canyon.com/_en/service/sponsoring.html €999

OT but whats the difference between the Ultimate CF Evo and Ultimate CF SLX Evo? Materials are the same, geometry is the same...only difference I can see is the colour?

Some sensible suggestions here - its probably the right plac to start

Actually +1 on that, I 've seen some really great looking bikes lately and the quality seems to be high enough nowadays.

I think this particularly frame is called FM-028.

Those canyons seem to be well liked on here. They ain't pretty tho, even my PX looks better imo. I think the decals just look dreadful, but I'd sacrafice aesthetics for value any day. Are they really that comfortable/good /reliable?

I'd like to here some opinions on the Canyons also, flip flopping between pulling the trigger on a Canyon CF or trying one of the chinese frames.

I've bought from here (albeit I bought an MTB frame)
You have to contact them for pricing.

To those asking about experiences with Canyon, from my perspective I bought an Ultimate CF 9.0 Pro earlier this year having previously used a Trek 1.9 (aluminium).

I'd have trouble moving back! It feels like you are getting more from each pedal stroke, especially uphill. It also feels more stable descending too compared to my experiences on the trek. I'm very happy with the bike, although I agree that they are not the most beautiful looking bikes (mine is matt black and apart from the large logos the frame is very dull). They are great value, mine has the full Campag Chorus 11 groupset, Mavic Krysium wheels. There's no cheap substitutions.

It would be interesting to hear from someone who has bought a Canyon who previously rode another firm's carbon frame, as that is a more meaningful comparison, in my opinion.

I went from a Focus Cayo (carbon) to a Scott Addict (carbon) to a Canyon Ultimate AL (aluminium). I bought the Scott because the Focus was objectively heavy and subjectively annoying because the internal cables rattled. I bought the Canyon after breaking the Scott because it would be cheaper to replace in a crash. I liked the Scott, I like the Canyon. The Canyon was half the price.

I don't think there are many bad frames on the market. For the most part you just get used to what you have.

Buying a frame that you find ugly is a bad idea. I don't think my Canyon is ugly, and my opinion is the only one that matters.

I'm kinda in the same boat as the op but I've narrowed it down to either the Canyon CF Frameset for €1,000 and swap over the parts from my PX Rival or buy the Canyon AL 8.0 full bike for €1,600. Or even the AL 9.0SL with SRAM Force - yum!

Just to clarify, I don't think my Canyon is ugly either, but it's not a wow-type frame. I'm fine with that as I think the bike's performance are it's strongest features, which, for this type of bike are probably high on most peoples' priorities.

Everything is relative when it comes to something being nice to look or not, but I don't think there are many wow frames out there, it's how you put them together that makes the difference.
