I just got a letter from ROS saying thank you for applying to become a ROS customer.
The thing is I did not apply.,
so is everyone getting these letters, or is someone using my identity (dont know why they would)
I phone the number on the letter but had a wait for 34 minutes and as i was on a mobile, decided against it.

    Whats the story?
    Thanks

    Read this: http://www.revenue.ie/en/online/ros/mandatory-e-filing.html

If you fall within the categories where e-filing is mandatory Revenue will register you with ROS and send you a letter thanking you for your application. I've seen quite a few already.

It's unlkely that anyone is indulging in identity theft.

Better safe than sorry - if telephone is not an option you can always send an email - details for your local tax office should be available on Revenue web site!
