    hi guys,.....and girls

So before I headed off to work today wanted to check all the fluids on the car, so i pulled the leaver at the drivers door, and it pulled further than normal and nothing happened:eek:

The car is a 1999 opel astra, 1.4, petrol, if thats any help, lol:pac:

Anyway, this happened on an older car i had, and i tried the "get someone to push on the bonnet and pull the leaver" but nothing, so what can i do.

Its not urgent...... but I dont want to drive around in a car where i cant have any access to the engine bay:o

    Thanks

This happened on my old Astra. It was as if the wire stretched so that when you pull the lever all the way it wasn't enough to pop the bonnet. When you pull the lever all the way you should be able to get at the wire behind. Stick a screwdriver between the wire and the plastic wall of the footwell and use that to pull the wire out a bit more. That should pop it for you.

Don't know about astra's but my Octavia used to have a nice smooth action on the bonnet lever and last year someone pulled it too hard and now i can feel the metal cable tension when i pull it and it also comes out twice as far.

    Maybe your cable snapped ?

Thanks lads, done that, then had to adjust the cable and it was perfect again:cool:
