Mullingar's Lakeside Wheelers & the Women’s Cycling Commission are hosting once again Ireland's only Ladies 2-day stage race over the weekend of the 30th of June-1st of July.

The 2012 Mullingar two day should attract a host of top female riders from across the country and the race is again seen as a crucial part of preparations for Rás na mBan 2012.

This is an ideal opportunity for those ladies looking to test the legs half way through the season in preparation for the Women’s Ras in September. It is also an ideal starting point for ladies new to stage racing, in a women’s only bunch.

The course is challenging without being too hilly, running over the rolling roads of Westmeath. The race lasts for exactly two days, comprising of a 3km uphill time trial and two road stages.

Teams will be entered with a maximum of 3, giving all clubs a fighting chance of taking the overall team prize with prizes also awarded for the top individual finishers.

So log on www.lakesidewheelers.ie & book your place for the Ladies only Mullingar 2 day!

I rode the men's race last year and it was an extremely well run race. The courses are not too difficult and you'll have a ball.

Just a quick clarification : you do not have to enter the event as part of a team. You may enter as an individual.

I am the only one from my club taking part for example.

Is Beasty allowed enter this one? or was the early season effort a one off??

There are actually a few men passing as women on Strava QOM bits that should be invited to join.

I think Beasty has been upgraded - he wins men's races too nowadays.
