RSA Launch Learning to Drive Manuals

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) are today, 11th June 2012 announcing the publication of their four new Learning to Drive Manuals, which were developed to aid learner drivers as they prepare for their driving test.

The manuals give invaluable information and advice on four vehicle categories; the Car, Motorcycle, Truck and Bus. These manuals are recommended reading for all candidates who have passed their theory test and are about to commence driver training for each of these vehicle categories. They are essential to acquire the skills and knowledge that the learner needs, alongside practice and training from their Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) with the Essential Driver Training (EDT) programme for car drivers and the Initial Basic Training (IBT) programme for motorcyclists.

Mr. Noel Brett, CEO, RSA said “Research from all around the world tells us that the way people learn to drive is a key factor in their future behaviour on the road. Drivers are more likely to be safe and competent behind the wheel when they have learned within a staged and formal process, and where they have taken responsibility for their own learning experience. The purpose of these manuals is to help learner drivers to take responsibility and work through the various stages in learning how to drive with the help of their Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) and sponsor. These new manuals add to this structured learning to drive process.”

ADIs will also find them useful tools to teach their students the basics of learning to drive a vehicle safely.
