Hey! New to this, just curious to see if there are any young musicians (Teenage) in the Ennis/Clare area? I play guitar (I'm pretty new- 2/3 years experience)
and I don't really know where to start putting myself out there. I play acoustic (but would be interested in getting into electric, I'm into the 90's era- HOLE, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Sonic Youth etc.) I have been promised a good electric guitar for my 16th, so I'm waiting for one until then.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE unplugged versions, so that's what I'm focusing on right now.
I'm also writing my own stuff, but to be honest it's nothing special. I'm still learning constantly and theory is like Greek to me. I think that getting some public performances would be a good start for both my musicianship and confidence. Anybody know where a nervous youngster like me could start out?
Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks!

I'd say hold off on public performances for a while, you're not ready and punters will eat you alive. It sounds like you're well into this and working hard at it, and that's really great.

Have a look around for other musicians to play with and hopefully ones better than you so you can also learn from them. Always try to be better, and when the time is right to play in front of the public, you'll be so much better prepared for it, musically and with confidance.

    Good luck ;)

Your best bet is to try and find local talent shows, like in GAA clubs or schools as opposed to trying to play pubs. Otherwise you're talking about play songs to people of an older age etc. Unless you can manage to find underage gigs where you are.

I'd stick with writing and that for now if I was you, possiblly playing with other musicians your age. Then once you turn 18 you can start playing pubs etc, and by then you should have a bit more confidence and experience.

Thanks, although I detest talent shows and the likes.
I think I'll focus on my understanding of musical theory as I think that's where I'm falling down in my writing, I should improve as I get higher up in my grades.
Thanks for your contribution of advice!
