I'm planning a spin on Wednesday evening (13th June) if anyone would like to join me. The plan is to meet at Pedigree Corner (on the N78 Athy to Castlecomer road - http://goo.gl/maps/ME8U) and leave at 7pm. I was reckoning on about 40km with a few hills, but nothing major, and fairly handy pace.

I'm from Stradbally myself, but figured Pedigree was a good meeting spot - parking, close enough to Carlow and Kilkenny and option of a coffee or lucozade afterwards. I'm hoping to make it a weekly thing, so if you're around next week, let me know.

Be good to get regular spins going in area - lacking over here in Athy as well.

Passed through Stradbally on a solo spin yesterday afternoon - went from Athy - Kilberry - Vicarstown - Stradbally - Arles - Ballickmoyler - Maganey and back to Athy - 60 km around

Do some trail biking in Stradbally and took a trip over to Cullenagh once.

The 2 lads live just down from you between Stradbally and the Mill Cross, think thats it local name, you probably
    might even know them :)

I would like join you, but can't see myself cycling that distance from Kilkenny after work and then back home, as I live in South West KK.

If you ever plan any spins closer to Kilkenny, I would be happy to join you ;).

    I'll be there.

Be warned, Daithai climbs like a home sick angel with a halo full of helium:)

If this was to be semi regular I'd hope to be able to make it over a few evenings but I don't think I'll be there tomorrow.

I'd like to try some different hills as long as they're hill not mountains:D

That would be great. You'll be glad to hear that there are no mountains in East Laois! I'll put up a proposed route later on today.

I'll bring you home if you want? I'm trying to convince the OH to come also.

Are we still on? I'm probably going to cycle from Carlow. How does Stradbally, Timahoe, Comer sound?

That sounds good to me. I was thinking about this route, but we can decide before we head off this evening.

Thank you Captain. Are you driving with the bike or cycling the whole way to work and back?

I am not fully prepared at this stage and I will probably have to pass, but thank you for your offer, it is much appreciated.

By the way, I am free almost every evening during the week straight after work, if you are ever looking for company and we can go through places we missed at our last go ;).

Due to a combination of sickness (me), and late working (Super Freak), we called it off beforehand. Hopefully next week will go a bit better!

I guess it depends who's there. I'd be in favour of keeping everyone together and taking it fairly handy: 24-28 km/h or thereabouts. If there's a group of us it makes it that much easier.

Anyone in for this Wednesday? Last Wednesday we did Pedigree Corner, Stradbally, Timahoe over Fossy mountain into the Swan and back to Pedigree Corner.

I would love to join, from Portarlington so I hope I will be home on time to cycle over. What time do you want to leave and what distance?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 869 ✭✭✭Daithi BC

I'll be there. 7pm leaving time again?

    Pieter - I would guess about 50km at 25-28km/h.

I won't be able to make it tomorrow evening - meeting at 7pm which probably won't be over until 9.
