Booking and B&B can't seem to validate our visas

    Hi,

I'm trying to book a B&B in Italy, the lady there says that she can't validate my Visa Debit, or my Wifes VISA.

My wife's bank said they tried a 1c charge and thats under the purchase limit, but the B&B says they have special 'powers' to only charge 1c.

Any tips? Should I just send her a cheque? At this stage I could have flown over and handed her the money!

The B&B can say what they like but the bank will determine the upper and lower limits for credit card transactions!

FYI, the lower limit stems from a pattern a while back of credit card fraudsters doing a tiny transaction to see if the card/details they have work before trying any larger transactions. Not saying your B&B is trying to scam you, just that there's a reason they won't take a 1c charge.

I had problems with my visa debit recently. I was trying to book using Ulsterbank's travel service and they couldn't take my Ulsterbank debit card. Apparently the ones beginning 4319 can be a problem.
