Alright lads after 18 years of service my dads Mondeo is going, I actually cannot believe it myself the car is NCT'd up to next march and goes fine but the tax is due next month and he wants to say fair well to herself (with tissues in hand and tears in his eyes)..

So he's looking for something up in the years (newer than a '95) where it won't be too much trouble and will see him on (72 y/o) he needs a big boot for the golf clubs and dogs. So as close to the old mondeo hatchback as possible, needs to be petrol also, as it will be very little used.

Currently looking at a petrol 06 Skoda octavia for around that 6k plus about 300 for the Mondeo..

    Any suggestions...

    thanks jay.

should have mentioned it should not be any bigger than a 1.6! :) and has to be a hatchback or an estate..

Ah, ok. Could have got a Accord estate, but only in 2 litre categories.

Then Avensis or Focus estate? They come in a 1.6 Petrol.

94 mondeo, built to last a lifetime! looks like the auld bird is being kept on..

    Off topic....

Have to say though sat in the car yesterday, radio works, elect windows work, sunroof works, seats are a bit soft.. suspension is very soft, anyone think that new bushings etc would improve that. That generation of mondeo was supposed to be a great driver..

I don't think he's ever got them replaced, might take it on as a weekend project, give it an overhaul.

Usually if you push the bonnet or boot of the car down and it bounces up down up down up down that the shocks are bad.

Yep that was the basic test I carried out, they were up down up down up down left right left and all over the shop!
