    2006 Peugeot 307 Auto / tiptronic. Normally there is a display on the dash indicating the gear you are in. D - Drive, P - Parked etc;

    Got a warning light on the dash today, orange triangle with exclamation mark shortly after engine management light reared its ugly head. The dash display is just a hyphen, ( no D, P, N ) irrespective of what gear is selected. Drives but not as responsive as it should be. Any suggestions welcome

    Have you ever changed the fluid in the gearbox?

    No, fluid has not been changed. Related, you think ??

    In addition, it appears to be a temperamental issue. Grand when not driven for a while. When it is functioning correctly, and in P, there is a switch that is activated when the brake is pressed. I'm assuming that is a selector lock/unlock, to ensure that the brake is depressed before you put the car in a driving gear. However, when the fault manifests itself, this "click" is evident when the brake is depressed when in any gear selection. Odd.... but it might assist boardsie analysis.

    As your issues are intermittent, I would first check battery if it is not changed recently. A bad battery can cause strange behaviour in cars with so many electrical components

    Beside that reading error codes with a obd reader is good starting point.
