Can i play in open comp if I havent paid my subscription yet?

Hey guys, I am a member of a club and am paying my subscription next week for 2012 (a bit late but however). My question is whether i can still use my gui number to play in an open comp this week or will it be void? Thanks in advance.

Contact the club handicap secretary and check if your handicap is still registered with GUI, six months in to the year with no sub paid, it may not be.

a lot of clubs probably will not let you if you haven't paid your sub.
