the law though is an ass!

till a few months ago (IIRC) there was no on the spot fines for things like having dodgy lights or the likes. Meaning, a guard has to book you for the offence to appear in court AND he has to take a day off active duties to appear in court to make the prosecution stick.

Is it not the case that here its the same situation that anyone booked means that the guards end up hauled off their real job of catching criminals for a day to make an appearance in court just to confirm the facts that a person was found without a full licence?

Anyhow, if TDs spent more time making proper laws rather than making representations for benefits for layabout bums and writing letters of lienancy for criminals (along with all the funeral attendances and other distractions that is 99% of what Irish politicans do) then you wouldnt have problems like this.

Shocking statistic... three a month involved in a fatal/serious accident a telling tale.
Will it make any difference? Doubt it. Will the gardai enforce the law? Doubt that too.
