correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there is a difference between 'alcohol free' and 'non alcoholic', the latter containing up to 0.5% ABV. the other is 0.

0.5% is generally considered to be the natural occurring amounts out side of proposable fermented beverage

I've read that the ABV of a ripe banana is usually higher than that of alcohol-free beer.

I just assumed that Alcohol free, meant zero alcohol...

Are you serious about the banana?

Serious, though not necessarily correct as I can't find a reference. I am seeing a few references to a study by the University of Indiana that found orange juice to be between 0.2% and 0.5% ABV.

To make alcohol free beer, they make standard beer and boil off the alcohol. AFAIK, there is so way you can guarantee that you have removed 100% of the alcohol using this method.

Have a look at the wikipedia entry on alcohol free beer for more info.

It does. Supermarkets wont allow you to buy it outside licensed hours either.

Don't know about Banana's but came across a hoax about Banana Skins containing psychoactive substances...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berkeley_Barb#Banana_skins_and_other_hoaxes

Have been unable to find any information on weather or not Banana's contain alcohol(ethanol)...
