Found out today my Sister's kids are doing some prayers in their Montessori... I didn't know Montessori's did this. Anyone else hear this?

Maria Montessori, who developed the Montessori system was a fairly devout Catholic as far as I remember. SO I'm not all that surprised that she would put that into the system.

Yup, Wikipedia says the same. Link

Not all do. I know one in north Dublin that definitely does not (one of my in laws runs it). It depends on the person running the Montessori school in question.

So far as I'm aware, it's entirely at the school's discretion. Here's the trivial story of what happened in the place my kid went to up to June last year:

The headmistress did make it clear that all the kids in her class did "the full religious thing" and that all the parents were happy with that (in an affluent area of South Dublin, my ass!).

Yep = Montessori are privately run and thus free to practice/ignore religion at their own discretion.

We deliberately picked one that ignored.
