Was told there is an infection but don't know what to get her!. Broke at de mo so can't afford vet for a week or 2 . Any suggestions! Someone suggested drops for her to put in de water. Any ideas? Sorry but she does need a vet if you can't afford one there might be a free vet clinic somewhere in your area if not a vet might agree to treat the chicken if you pay a little at a time. If you explain to the vets they might give you something over the counter but that depend but no harm in asking.

The bird will become more ill and probably die if it's not seen asap and whatever it is could transfer to other birds. To be honest that's leaving it very long to see a vet birds go downhill very fast so it's important the bird is seen to straight away.

It's no good putting drops of any kind in the water because you don't know exactly how much the bird will get of it and you don't want other birds drinking it too. You need to get something that can go directly into the beak so 1. You know the exact dose the bird has gotten for the treatment to work and 2. You know she's definetly taken it.

Are you sure she is not gone broody? Sounds like she could be,they sit on the eggs & make a funny sound when you pick them up,they only come off the eggs once a day to eat, drink & go to the toilet.

Sounds broody to me too. Is she cranky?Making noises, trying to peck you if you try to move her?

Who told you she had an infection? Is she definately sick? What other symptoms does she have?

.. She does sound as though she's brooding. Hens lay on eggs mostly all the time until the eggs hatch! They become quite aggressive and puff up if you go near them. Sick chickens usually wouldn't give a toss what you do to them and you can usually tell by their eyes, beak and feathers if they had an infection. Eyes would look sore and they may have discharge around the beak and their feathers will not be in good condition.

same as the above posters have said basically! Birds, when sick will not last that long. They could look a bit sick and by the time you know they are dead!

Please please go and see a vet, they may treat the chicken and allow you to pay them when you have money.
