    Hi guys,
I made the stupid mistake of taking out my car one evening to get to the shop to get nappies for the little lad. I had no insurance on the car. It was the first and only time I done it and I got caught. I got a two year ban and I applied for restoration of my licence last week and got it back. I always new I was going to be looking at massive prices as I'm on peovisinal licence. I have no problem with paying my high premiums but I would be looking for monthly payments. I know I have to pay the price. I am just looking for a company who will take a low deposit for the monthly payments instead of paying 800 or 900 depost. It would be a great kick start for me if I could get this just to get me back on the road to proving myself to the insurance companies. Could anyone help.

Most companies will take monthly payment as far as I know. (RSA and FBD definately do.)

A 2 year ban is very harsh for a first offence, particularly if you were just caught randomly at a checkpoint, not so if you caused an accident.

harsh alright, my mate got 2 years of a ban last year with a big fine, but at the same time he went on the piss and didnt bother going to court so he deserved it lol

It was harsh alright, even my solicitor thought so. There was no accident or anything, I just went into a checkpoint. I have tried fBD and they wouldn't even quote me. Everyone else is coming up with massive quotes which I expected but was just hoping for a low enough down payment. Even around 200 or 300 euro.

I'd go to a broker and have a chat, they should be able to help you.

I have been doing a few different places the last while. A lot of them can't even give me a quote well by that what mean is their computer won't give them a quote to give me.

Many of the brokers can't quote me. All the do is put the details into the computer and the computer brings up no quotes. So they just say what comes up in front of them.

I'd stake my hat on no insurer willing to accept a reduced deposit from you. Direct Debit is a risk in itself and in their eyes, you're an increased risk too. I think you'd be doing well to find a solution here unless you get a loan off a credit union or something.
