Laptop charger repair - Not the usual problem!

Hi my laptop charger is loose in the socket of the laptop and keeps falling out easily. The socket is perfect and is still attached to the mobo. The charger doesn't seem to have enough grip to keep in the socket. So I think if I put a bit of solder all around the cylinder of the charger it will have more grip. Can someone who knows more than me about solders properties comment on whether this approach will work? The melting point of solder is 150 degrees isn't it? So it wont melt in the socket?

Does have a clue or can you point me to a forum where this question fits in more?

There are lots of posters who are willing to help on this forum, maybe they havent been about..I wouldnt think putting solder on the charger socket would be a good idea..you say the jack on the mother board is ok,maube solder on the charger may damage this?????

I was thinking just a small layer of solder around the cylinder of the charging pin so it would be thicker in the jack, have more friction and still conduct! Not sure if it will work though.

I assume the connector is round? Would it be easier to squeeze it between some pliers until it's oval shape? Should make for a tighter fit (careful not to break it...)
