Switching to 2G app

Because my 3 network coverage isn't great where I live I've found that by turning my radio to Gsm mode from the normal(gsm/wcdma) mode on my S3 the battery lasts for longer without constantly searching for 3G.

I understand this still allows me to send receive voice/sms data but not use mobile Internet (while on GSM)?

So I was wondering can an app like taster be set up so that it will auto turn on GSM mode when I arrive home and turn it off when I leave?

Or are there any simple to use one button press apps that ye would recommend?

Check the market for LAMA, you can set it up to turn off 3G when you arrive home and switch it back when you leave. It learns what your home region is based on which masts/towers you connect to when at home.

You create numerous profiles and actions based on locations and time.

Alternatively you can just add a simple widget to turn 3G on or off.

Llama runs in the background. Does anyone know if this can cause alot of battery drain? Trying to find out whats causing my battery drain overnight so I dont want to add anything that might increase the drain until I find the culprit.

Try better battery stats to find out the app that's draining.

I was never able to find an app to do this on a stock ROM. The best I could get was a shortcut to the "Network Mode".

A lot of custom ROMs have the option though.
