Flickering screen..

    Hi all,

    Sony Vaio VGN-FS315E (PCG-7D1M)

    Windows XP.

The screen has bands of narrow lines running horizontally, faint but noticeable and the screen flickers.

Flexing the screen makes no difference and there appears to be no cable damage. The connectors all appear sound also.

I just wanted to check wih the Omnipotent Gurus :D if anyone has encountered this before?

Don't want to shell out for a new screen to find the onboard graphics are going west!

    I couldn't get a picture showing the lines :(

    Thanks :p

I've seen it happen with both a dodgy inverter and a graphics chip on the way out (nvidia). Try pushing down on the keyboard with the palm of your hand in various spots and see if that makes any difference to the screen. If you can get your hands on a donkey laptop from someone and drop your screen into it that would help.
