Went car shopping for my mum yesterday

On my way home with this now, (free wifi on the boat rocks)

Hyundai i30 CRDI (red I of course!) 115 premium

What a cracking car, drove it from east England yesterday, seats are very comfortable for a family hatch, it's very torquey so going from 40 to 70 happens in no time.

Spec is very generous on these, on the outside you get full colour coding, 17 inch alloys with chrome insets wrapped in massive 225/45/17 tyres, front fogs, park assist, the mirrors fold in automatically too and are heated

Inside, you get heated full leather seats, climate control, decent stereo with ipod control and wheel controls, leccie windows all round, auto lights, wipers and rear view mirror.

Only criticism id have is that the tyres might be a bit low profile, hitting road imperfections is bearable but definitely not as forgiving as an Irish spec one on 15s or 16s, the wide tyres make it great craic for roundabouts and the like, it's not as sharp as say a focus, but not far off, and certainly more entertaining than a Golf.

It's new owner should be delighted.

So how much cheaper it works out?

I don't even think I ever sow such spec Hyundai here.

How much did it cost and how much will u have to pay to on VAT over here

Hyundai Ireland also did the premium spec, just nobody bought them.
It'll end up costing roughly the same as a base spec one over here, the aim wasn't to save money as such, it was more for spec and condition, also they have the 5 year warranty in the UK and a lot of Irish i30s don't have this till late 08.

VRT is €1200 give or take.

I know someone that bought the same model and spec in red. Very nice car - well wear.

That's a serious spec list. I really wish all manufacturers would just include everything and be done with it! Makes a change from the usual Irish 'It has every extra' - and you get their to view it and it has alloys, aircon, and fogs.

I hope mammy_mcm appreciates the spec difference.

    Well wear!

How's the park assist in the i30?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,522 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

Park assist isn't as advanced as on say a vw. There's no display, it's just beeps like an aftermarket system, there's 3 sensors on the bumper, I've tested them out and they pick up obstacles, even at an angle, so the corners are well protected.
