Car for the wife - 2008 Focus petrol?

    Hi

The wife currently has a 03 Fiesta LX. Thinking of buying something slightly bigger.

I own a saloon which we use for long trips, she doesn't do huge mileage so wouldn't say a diesel is necessary

Was thinking along the lines of a Seat Leon, ford focus etc. She likes Ford and especially the focus. Budget would be 6-7kish + the trade in (wouldn't say the Fiesta is worth a whole ton?)

Would a 1.4 Focus (2008 with higher mileage or 2007 with lower mileage) be a decent purchase (and indeed would you get a decent model with our budget and trade in?) or would people look at the Leon or maybe even a Kia Ceed?

Also with specs am I correct in saying the LX is the base model and Zetec the highest (although I have seen some style's with decent specs)?

Thanks in advance for any help. Based in Dublin but anywhere within a reasonable distance would be considered.

1.4 litre engine is very sluggish in the Focus. Better off finding a 1.6 litre version. By 2008 the LX was replaced by the Style model which would have been the base model, next up was the Zetec, then the Ghia (4 and 5 door) and Titanium (3 door). There were also special edition Connection models.

One thing to note is that any 1.4 litre Focus registered after 30 June 2008 would be on the new tax system which had the same tax rate as the 1.6 litre petrol version.
