give me a bit of panti....yum!

    front lounge - poserville

george - tacky (but can be fun, you know what to expect!)

    dragon - spendworld

Well, Dublin's entire gay scene is rather poseur but the Front Lounge is particularly so; you're right!
I still like the pub though, even if it does have quite an intense vibe. I would find it easier to chat someone up in there rather than in PantiBar.

What do you mean by "poseur" .I drink there as do many of my friends and none of us are "poseurs" ,,,For Gods sake grow up

    Folks - keep it civil.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

The George - Slightly tacky, reasonable drink prices and always good fun. It doesn't take itself too seriously. A little less amount of drag acts would be a nice welcome.

The Front Lounge - Very nice relaxed with a decor/layout/athmosphere that works really well, but unfortunately unforgivable rip-off drinks prices are a massive turn off.

The Dragon - A long and narrow, cramped and unjustifibly uppity night 'club'. It acts as if its the only gay 'night club' in Dublin. But it plays mostly the same pop as the george and has a terrible dance floor.

Panti Bar - A nice athmosphere where you can chat to people, until 11pm when they blare music in your ear, so all you can do is sit there shouting at each other or just leave. Nice drinks promos, nice crowd, a real pub. the drag act is a load of ****e though, what do people see in this stuff!?

War - A great little nightclub with deadly music and great drinks promos. Age wise its very young though.

Hey, don't take it personally, you don't own the pub, do you! I drink with my friends there too!!

I am grown up, thanks! That's why I'm actually able to accept that different people have different views and that they're entitled to them.

    Conor/Oisin

Keep to the topic and stop getting stroppy with each other.

yeah i like panti but do undrestand when folks say gay bars can be places for posuers it is hard when you go alone

I love the dragon's smoking area, but the prices are really off-putting. always found the george quite depressing.

Pantibar is by far my favourite. It's always free-in, the staff are friendly, I love the drag shows (haven't been to the make and do night but plan to try it soon). The place has got great character.

I suppose it's a love it or hate it thing!

Been to Mother a few times, and it's always been good fun. not mad about the music, but then I hate the music in most clubs so I kind of expect as much!

The George (Jurassic) or Panti bar for me, Nealons as well even if it isn't a gay bar

    Clubnights rather than dedicated venues

Mother - "Copper Alley", e.g. the basement of the Arlington Hotel Temple Bar on Saturday nights.

War - Andrews Lane on Fridays, I think. Never been.

It's hard for me to list order of preference as I've had fantastic times in the various venues ;) but I've also had crap times but a very loose order of preference would be

    Pantibar:
Pros: I find it's the most comfortable if you want to have 1:1 chats with mates etc as well as being able to people watch. The staff are the friendliest.
Cons: The Panti Show can be a bit repetitive if you are a frequent patron on a Saturday night (especially the miming of songs)

    Front Lounge:
Pros: Probably has the best looking customers of all the bars..lots of eye candy!!:p. Also, it does have a great ambience when it is not very busy.
Cons: I would find it the least welcoming place on a busy night should you head out by yourself.

    Jurassic:
Pros: The juke box is great -fantastic range of classic and current hits. You can meet some really interesting and fun people (young and old). Most (not all) of the staff are also really friendly and engage with you
Cons: Invariably, you get a higher concentration of people there who will leer, not take no for an answer or are completely ignorant of social norms (ie wierdos).

    Mother:
Pros: I love the electropop music they play (mostly)
Cons: None really - only one gripe last year when I was raving about this place to friends and brought a group of them in from Dublin 15 especially for this club only to be turned away by the bouncers saying it was full up

    George:
Pros: Just for nostalgia reasons I like heading back to this place on the odd occasion. It's where I met my OH.
Cons: The crowd is just too young these days...or else I'm getting too old :(:p

    Dragon:
Pros: I love the set up and decor of the place, different areas, floors etc. I find people/strangers quite friendly there.
Cons: The music can be repetitive.
