Dogs barking like crazy in house behind our estate. I contacted ISPCA, but its not in their area. Got a local SPCA number and called them but haven't heard anything. I got the district court form but I don't know their name only address. So cant use the district court. gardai cant give name - data protection. Any ideas on how to get a name for an address?

Have you actually talked to the people to settle this amicably?

Another thread dealing with this from the opposite perspective was started recently.

I can't imagine a judge would be too happy if it turned out you hadn't even spoken to the dog owner. I doubt the owner would appreciate being blind sided by a summons either.

I did send a nice letter asking politely for the barking to be sorted out. The problem is that the dogs are treated very badly so i am wary of going over as I don't know anything of the people there, I will do though before I try the court thing though.

Face-to-face contact is much better than a letter. What did you expect a letter to achieve? :\

Ask for their names when you are over there.

Go to the local Garda Station, town hall or public library and ask to look at the Register of Electors, if they're registered to vote you'll see their names.

when they put their bins out look at the label on the bin, it may have their name on it.
    Mine does.

There's been a thread here not a few days ago when the dog warden came round to people ref barking? If dogs are going mad barking there is probably a reason for it - probably worth reporting it on that basis alone. Also you might get a name out of the Dog Warden.

Did you type it by any chance?

My next door neighbour has a dog out in his back garden which barks all night.
Last night,I took his dog and put it in my garden to see how he liked it.

Well, if you don't know anything of the people, then how exactly do you know they're being treated badly? And when you say barking like crazy, do you mean the occasional bark a few times a day, or constantly through the night? etc.

They bark all night, all day, whine as if in pain, fight each other so that it sounds like they are killing each other. Its a tiny back yard, the dogs don't get out of it. neighbours who work nights are also nuisanced as they can't sleep during the day but they feel they cant complain directly to owners as they are foreign and don't want any trouble. This is a brief synopsis.

Perhaps a few neighbours should go together collectively and discuss the matter with the dog owners in a non-confrontational way. And why the fear? Just because they're foreign doesn't mean they're not approachable, and being the minority they might not be too keen on upsetting the locals.

we had this years ago - check the bins their names will be on it - other than that check the land registry the house will have to be registered to someone you will have to pay i think 20-30euro but worth it-best of luck

Knock on door, introduce oneself, enquire politely about dog and then you are half way to finding out who owns the canine.
Neighbourly introductions seem to have got lost nowadays, people rely on the internet which was not around in days gone by to sort out their problems.
