    hey,

so i have this 3wood since '96 - callaway big bertha with a regular flex shaft.

i never play the club in rounds, even on par 5s i use the 3-iron....i can hit it, like at a range...i hit it pretty well but i cant bring myself to use it otherwise.

if it had a stiff shaft id probably feel more comfortable and give it a go more often.

so should i change shafts or clubs?

my choices of shafts might be from the following:

would a newer 2nd hand 3wood might be the way to go....although hybrid woods are more popular these days it seems.

    cheers for any advice!

came across this this evening on local second had website:

Taylormade r7 CGB max hybrid, loft is 19 degrees, original stiff flex graphite shaft(reXax 55 superfast?) and grip.

any ideas where this club would come to mind, tee shot, fairway, rough etc?

im pretty capable of hitting a 3-iron 200yards+, and regularly use it off the tee for short par 4s, and fairway/rough for longer approach shots.

so in my mind a 'true' 3-wood is my next club....but beggers can't be choosers and at $40 for the above, it might be worth a shot - any ideas?

    Hi just my thoughts.
Im golfing less than 2 yrs dabbling a good while longer but 2 yrs would be about fair to say, I have a tm superfast 2 3 wood that I never got along with at all( I know that now) literally hit 20 decent shots ever but one day on adverts I saw a titleist 906 3 wood going for €50 so I just bought it for the craic with no expectations at all. I find myself hitting it for fun such a club. Not being at all smart about it I kinda feel like a surgeon with it at least that's the closest way I can describe how I'm feeling using it. From what I understand these are "harder to hit or less forgiving the my tm" but I don't see how anyone can describe it so based on my experience.
Now I'm new to golf but I think the difference is the shaft. The club makers don't want to admit it but the the heads make sod all difference just use one you like is all, I think a proper fit shaft is where it's at in golf.

It would be in around the same distance as your 3 iron, have a look on adverts lots of stuff on there i find TM wood the best but that is just my opinion.

ya, im thinking its the shaft too but at over $100 for a new shaft it might be better to just get a new club.
