    Hi all,
So. Started to experiment with saorview today. I had upc up to a few yrs ago but cancelled it for various reasons including costs. I had the MMDS as the digital connection was not available. I don't have a satellite dish.

I have been watching tv through the normal aerial since cancelling upc. But trying to establish my options post switch over bought a triax 112 today.

So set it up and it automatically found the various channels and radio stations. But the problem is that the channels keep breaking up and are quite choppy intermittently. You couldn't watch them. It's a rooftop aerial so I can't figure out what is wrong.

Could it be weather interference or is there something else I am missing? I'm in North county Dublin.

    Thanks.

Some parts of N Co Dublin will have intermittant coverage until Oct 24th. Have a look at the coverage checker, put in your address to check for current and future Saorview coverage in your area - http://www.saorview.ie/make-the-switch/coverage-map/

Thanks, unfortunately I am in a fully "green zone" so it must be something else :(

Which transmitter does the coverage checker recommend?
Do you have the correct aerial type/group, polarisation and orientation for the transmitter?
If it's the correct aerial, is it in good condition?
Is there a masthead amp or other amp in the system?
Is the co-ax cable from the aerial to TV in good condition?

    Jebus.

To be honest I haven't a clue about those questions you are asking. The transmitter is Kippure and the co-ax cable is in good condition. I haven't a clue about the aerial group/type, didn't even know there was different ones to be honest. I have no idea what an amp is in this context either I am afraid. ALl I know for sure is that I can watch the Irish channels (and some UK) channels through the normal aerial (analogue) setup.

You say you get some of the UK channels - from NI?
1 aerial on the roof - pointing north?
Can you post the UHF channel nos./frequencies of the analogue channels you currently receive, to help identify your current analogue transmitter(s)?

For Kippure the aerial should be pointing south.

Can you post a pic of the aerial?
