Family lunch near Nantes on way to La Rochelle??

    Hi all,

I'll be driving to La Rochelle in a few weeks on the annual family holiday. Two kids (7 & 11), two adults and a car with roof box, bike carrier etc. The typical camping holiday scene!

We've done this for a few years and the only fly in the ointment in relation to the drive from Roscoff is we have never stopped anywhere nice for lunch. We usually end up in some motorway service station or other and it's usually been crap. We'd like to stop somewhere where we'll get a decent bit of family friendly lunch but don't want to divert off the motorway too much. Nantes is about 3.5 hours from Roscoff so we'll be there around 15:00 or so.

Can anyone recommend a good spot to stop off for lunch in or around Nantes and preferably not too far off the motorway/orbital road we'll be negotiating around Nantes?

    Cheers,

    Ben

Lunch at 15.00 in France? Not on, except for - well, motorway service stations.

True  I just realised that also. should be off the ferry and on the road around 10:00am so would just about make Nantes for 13:30 is all goes well but even then that's a little late as I do recall most independent places close at 14:00.

Sounds like motorway or into a McDonalds somewhere along the way :(
