The State Exams Commission (SEC) is to roll out a ‘new’ exam paper for Monday’s Leaving Irish Paper 1 after a security blunder.
The commission said today CDs for the aural component of the Leaving Cert exam were “issued in error ’’ to a small number of Junior Cert students.

This seems to be happening nearly every year! The SEC are becoming a joke!

I expect trying to offer the same service with a smaller staff will lead to more errors, even before the effects of the February retirements kick in.

Or the staff could improve their level of competency.

This is good preparation for kids for later life, the incompetence of people in administrative positions:)

It's not really a big deal. It's not a "new" Irish paper, they have back-ups. It doesn't affect the students (apart from predictions going out the window, which they shouldn't really be relying on anyways).

TBH, I'd be disappointed if it didn't happen.

I was in the year that had to sit the English paper on the Saturday. These kids don't know how good they have it... :pac:

Seriously though, it's pretty bad that it's happened again, after all the new security they introduced the last time. Irish Paper I only has an essay and listening on it now, so it's not like anyone'd predicted anything anyway. Still an expensive cock-up though, the taxpayer had to pay something like €2million for the English fiasco.
