Hi guys. Please move this if it's in the wrong section etc!

I got a vaio 7 months ago and it had been working perfectly until two weeks ago or so. The touch pad just stopped working. The left and right click too. It's a soft ware problem. The touch pad works in the vaio quickstart mode, and in safe mode, which I've been told by my computer savvy friend means the sont drivers are over-riding the windows drivers, and the sony drivers are where the problem lies.

I rang Sony and for 15 euro phone call they advised me to uninstall the point and click drivers and then reintall them. Didn't work...Anyone have any possible solutions before I spend 15 euro to ring Sony again? Many thanks :)

What is the model number of the Vaio (the one printed on the right hand side of the screen). Also many laptops have a simple touch pad on/off setting which can be enabled by hitting the 'FN' key followed by a touchpad enable/disable option (usually looks like a mouse on the keyboard). Can help further with the model number (as can google the specific model and look at pic of keyboard). Also a €15 phone call :eek:

Uninstall the touchpad from Device Manager (Start->Righjt Click Computer->Manage->Device Manager), restart and windows should re-install. DO NOT Unistall the drivers when requested during the device uninstall in device manager.

It's a vaio Ca2zoe. The model number on the laptop reads VPCCA. I tried the Fn and anything mouse looking but no luck! Yeah, I was waiting 10 minutes or so to get through, and then however long it took to get some information out of the agent...any help would be great, it's driving me a bit mad at this stage

I uninstalled mouse and pointer devices, would that not mean the same thing as touchpad? It didn't work whatever I uninstalled. I'd try it again, but I can't actually point and click anything due to the touchpad being disabled or whatever, but I'll try it when I get my hands on a usb mouse again (probably tomorrow!).

I tried Fn and anything mouse looking but no luck unfortunately! It's a Vaio Ca2ZoE, and the number on the laptop reads VPCCA. Any help would be great, this is driving me a bit mad at this stage! 15 euro indeed, waited 10 minutes to talk to an agent, and then talked to her for a fair bit registering the laptop and whatnot...

    Didn't work...:(

My friend turned off all start up applications and it worked again...turned them back on, stopped working again. Must be some program I installed without noticing or something maybe?

I think there may be a setting on the laptop doing it. Have a look for a Vaio Utility that may have a setting to disable the touchpad.
