    Awh no, it's real.

Actually, when I think about it I was doing the completely opposite to all the predictions, and don;t care what title comes up.
    Bit of a b*tch still though :/

This might sound like a retarded question but does this effect ordinary level as well?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 923 ✭✭✭biohaiid

The aural's the same for higher and ordinary papers so I'd imagine it affects both.

is it really that hard for the examiner to read the front of the papers before they hand them out?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 264 ✭✭earwax_man

You'd think they'd have learnt their lesson from 2009.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 923 ✭✭✭biohaiid

Ohwell, nothing we can do now. :)
If this means all the predictions aren;t coming up then I'm happy :)
Either way I dont think it makes too much of a difference.

Anyone here what school the mistake was made in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51 ✭✭annettesayz

Ridiculous. Always something going on with the leaving cert, whether it be like today in Geography they had a mistake on the map or that lc listening is played for junior cert...
    So annoying.

The SEC are pulling both papers and sending out the back-ups as a precaution.

We don't have to do anything on a Saturday, when English Paper 2 leaked a couple of years ago they had to do their exam on a Saturday. We'll still be doing Irish on Monday/Tuesday.

It wasn't the paper, the wrong CDs were packed for a few special centres.

    ** Please read carefully!! ** :)

The exam is going ahead at the same time, there are no changes, it's not going to affect you except that you'll be doing the back-up paper instead of the primary paper.

No need for worry or panic! ;)

Did anyone hear this ? Got word this afternoon that Irish Higher paper was given out in error to a few centres somewhere up the country. Apparently it was given out to junior cert students.
Is this true and was does it mean for next Mon ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 408 ✭✭certifiedcrepe

It was just the CD according to the news and a few websites. Everything will be as normal on monday, it will be sorted in time.

It's true, they're giving us the back-up paper on Monday. Thread for it is here.

If I mess up I'll always be thinking "what was on that other paper".

Is it just a new tape or whole new paper?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 181 ✭✭e-sull

There was really no need for them to publicise this. Knowing that we're going to do a backup paper will not have any effect on anybody, it just serves to create stress for already stressed students. It is also really affecting the integrity of the SEC.. They really need to get their shít together.

Its a new paper 1, and new tape.

They had to, it was only a matter of time until word got out (the first post of this thread refers to twitter, not the announcement, as their source! ;)) and waiting hours for a decision (in the case of the 2009 paper) would have stressed you all out a lot more.

Actually, I have a bit of sympathy for them on this one, with the amount of exam centres there are with special centres etc., it's very easy to slip the wrong CDs into a couple of packs. I'd have a lot more sympathy on this one than for the incident re: the English paper a couple of years back.

I know what you mean re: the publicity, but ... if they didn't say it, and it had leaked, the rumours which would have started would probably have been completely wild and caused much more stress.

As it is, there's no reason at all to stress: your paper is at the normal time, on the normal day, it will be a perfectly normal paper.

Who knows? ... it could easily be nicer!! ;):D

I suppose if they gave out Irish Paper 1s with no date on them it'd be a giveaway...

Two teams of question drafters and setters work separately on two separate papers for each subject. At the end of the process, the Examination and Assessment Manager (Chief Examiner) selects one as the live paper and one as the backup.

This is no reason to assume that the backup paper will be any less favourable than the original one as both have to confirm to the SEC assessment principles in any case.

Just ignore this little fuss and carry on preparing as you were. There is nothing to worry about (other than what you were worrying about before you heard this story!).
