    Hi,

I've been tasked with the job of managing the re-decoration of our Georgian office building on a very limited budget...

I'm after a contemporary sofa for the hall in this kind of style for a reasonable price in Dublin:

Nothing suitable at the moment in IKEA unfortunately - too bland. Really looking for something stylish if possible.

Also looking for contemporary art at a reasonable price - prints would be fine but nice to have something original if possible.

Really like this digital art printed on perspex from Australia:

Suggestions as to good suppliers very welcome!!

    Thanks

This is really good stuff you are looking at here. I wouldn't call it contemporary. It looks 'vintage' to me. This sort of stuff isn't cheap, certainly many times the cost of Ikea. You could try retrospect on cow's lane, but usually they have smaller pieces. Might be worth asking though. There are reproduction places in the UK, which aren't too expensive for copies of design classes, but they are still a lot more expensive than Ikea. Re art, I wouldn't be expecting to get much original for a small budget. It just wouldn't be worth the artist's while.

I think the furniture you're after is Mid Century Modern (MCM) rather than contemporary, and it will probably be pretty pricey I'm afraid.

With regard to artwork, I think the Swiss / International graphic style that came to prominence in the 50's and 60's can work well in an office and should sit well with mid-century modern furniture.

The UK designer Simon Page did a series on the International Year of Astronomy, some of which is really great.

    18 x 24 prints - $40
    24 x 36 prints - $80

Shipping 1/2 price if you spend more than $80

theres an antique furniture section on adverts.ie. theres a particular guy call bodi808 I think his name is. you will see him selling vintage and mid century furniture. if you pm him he might be able to guide you on where to find a nice piece cheap. The likes of Retrospect and Wild Child charge huge money as this type of furniture is in vogue at the moment. You might lucky in Oxfam or St vincent de paul. Also try dublincitywaste.ie and ebay and don't rule out the possibility of buying something and getting it re-upholstered.

Regarding the perspex panel, this guy http://www.capitalcdesign.com/ made up a piece for our company a while ago. It was a print mounted onto a perspex panel and mounted on the wall. should be able to give you a price anyway. we supplied the artwork though.

Thought I would share this UK based site with you:

    http://www.vita-interiors.com/reproduction-classics/sofas/

They do good quality knock off's of classic mid century designs and deliver to Ireland
