    Hi Linda,
I did the course 2 years ago and really liked it. I went in as a mature student (25) so I was kind of worried it would all be young people but there was a good mix. If you are interested in continuing an education in Psychology its a really good place to start. I found it great for giving an overview of the different areas of Psychology, the course work wasn't too hard and the tutors were all very approachable.

The main reason I'm so positive about it is that I found it a great stepping stone for studying Psychology further. I have just finished my first year of a Psychology degree in Napier University, Edinburgh, which I never would have discovered only it has links to the SCD Applied Psychology course. My tutor was really helpful and encouraged me to apply, and even gave me a reference for my UCAS application. I found all the tutors very good in giving us information of further progression, for example I also applied for and got offered a place in IADT Dun Laoghaire on their Applied Psychology degree, which is also linked to this course.

Overall, I found it really good in preparing me for what was ahead. Obviously, the areas were not studied as in depth as a degree course but many subjects and theories that I learned about there have since come up in further detail in my first year at University, and its nice to be familiar with some of the concepts.

As someone who only had a general idea of what Psychology was about before I started, it gave me a great introduction to the subject. And of course it opened up a door for me into a Hons Degree that I wouldn't otherwise have had.

If you have any other questions, let me know.

    Good Luck

    Hi Linda,

I have also applied for this course for September! Everything I've heard so far has been good so fingers crossed it will be something I like! Have you booked accommodation or do you know the area near college well? Have you or anyone else any advice on where is good to live around SCD?

    Thanks, Orla :)

Orla, Linda - if you want to chat, take it to PM (private messaging) so as not to derail the thread. If you don't know how to PM, click on the name of the person you want to PM, and it'll show up. JC
