Back dating of Job Seekers when you land a new job

    Hi all.

    Question:

I have applied for job seekers benefit dating back to mid March. As yet I have not received a payment due to issues (nothing to great, but slow paperwork on behalf of my former employers, so NOTE: NOTHING ILLEGAL!)

I have since landed a job starting Mid June.

Am I still entitled to receive the Job Seekers allowance back dated figure that would be/is due to me.

At this moment in time, I have not finalised the paperwork as one of my employers (had two jobs) has not yet sent me my p45.

Please do not state anything about social welfare rules as I am more than aware that the case is only open for 7 days from the date of first meeting. So I have missed the window that they required the second P45...however, they said if I missed this i'd just have to start at the start of the paperwork again. Again, this IS NOT the issue as I will have all the paperwork in my hand then to start again.
    Question again:

Can I get the job seekers benefit back dated even if I have started work??

    Cheers

You get your JS back dated to the start of your claim and it is paid up to the time you begin work, just inform the SW that you are now working and from what date.
