    Folks
Got a letter in post this morning from Shannon to tell me that I was caught speeding, 70kmph in a 50kmph ( I can't argue with that), I was going away with the missus and young lad and with mid Saturday traffic and we are baffled as to where I was snapped as the road in and out of this village is straight.

With regards the fine I got the form and a little picture printed on this, with a picture of the back number plate so I was caught leaving the village, probably put the foot down too soon and got nabbed for it.
But the picture, I would have thought that I would have got a picture of the car and the speed printed on this picture, not a picture which is about 2 inches long and an inch wide printed onto this page as it doesn't prove anything with regards the speed.

Maybe thats the practice, I am not arguing the speed, if I was doing that in a 50kmph zone then I deserve to be caught.

    Thanks

I requested and got a picture once - I can't remember whether it had the speed on it, but it was definitely bigger than 2x1. I'd give them a buzz and ask.

Was your initial one the same size though Anan? It almost looks like a car behind me took a picture and sent it in saying I was speeding :)

If the picture is standard on all speeding fine then thats dead on, I was under the impression that you got a picture with the speed on it.

Its my first speeding fine in 15 years of driving so I am a bit green on this ;)

No the picture on the letter is just of your reg plate to show it was actually you. It does not normally have the speed you were doing on the picture.

You got caught by a Gatso Van on the other side of the road, they pick up both directions of traffic if there is no barrier in the way. Hence the rear plate shot.

Well they do say having kids in the car makes you lose attention to the road :)

They only send a pic of the reg plate in order to save relationship, as some people where caught speeding with the wrong person beside them.

You can request the full size pic. I did when I got done and it was shockingly bad, I was caught by the Gatso on the N2:o, and I only got 1 image. I thought you where supposed to get 2 to prove you where speeding by showing the time difference and how many lines you'd crossed. Didn't query it as I was going flat out on a bike that only did about 70mph after years of courier use.

Lads I got caught doing 64 in a 50 recently. I was sharing the drive with the mother and I honestly haven't a clue who was driving at the time. Can I ask them for a better pic than just the reg?

I've 4 points and she has 0 so I'd obviously prefer her to take the points but I don't want to be undone with a pic of me driving at the time!
